How a photographer would shoot his own "Save The Date" photo.

It hit me the night before.

Holy $%!@,  I'm getting photographed.

Let me back up and tell you my story though.

Being a photographer grants you several privileges, one of which stand out in my mind - the ability to see and record the most intimate of celebrations, customs and emotions a group of people can share with each other and the moments in between.

I have always loved being able to do this and love the freedom to do it with my own eye and vision.  It's something that I pride myself at.

However, I had no idea what it was like to be on the other side.  Where do I put my hands?  How would I look being on the other side of the lens? Does my smile look funny??  Things I was so confident in telling clients to do in order to make them look good in front my lens, I was now telling myself to do!

And it wasn't working.

Someone else was going to be behind the lens - and I was scared out of my mind.

Instead of panicking and hyperventilating my self into oblivion, being scared out of my mind got me to thinking about other things.  What would my own shoot be like?  If i could only have one photo from the shoot what would it be and how would it look like?

I asked one of my good friends who also happened to be a photographer to photograph us.  Describing to him the idea and setup of the shot, he executed it perfectly:

It took less than three tries before we had it.  It was ALMOST as satisfying as having taken the shot myself!

The emotions that welled up in me when I saw the photo were enough to tell me that this was the "moment" for me.  That elusive moment that I personally hunted for when I photographed other people had now been captured for Eiffel and me.  I can't thank you enough Chris!

So save the date everyone!!! =D

Yaptos got smarter

10.18.11 Marc and I made the best wedding decision EVER this past Tuesday.... and it's totally a secret!! Let's just say that a huge load has been lifted off of our shoulders and we're getting back to being excited for the wedding!

My entire day off was dedicated to gathering addresses (consisted of a lot of texting, fb messaging, calling, etc...) and writing out addresses to send our Save-The-Date cards by this weekend!  We can't wait for everyone to see it.  Once they're all sent out, Marc and I will share it with the rest of the world.  But for now, we want our close family and friends to be surprised when they receive it  <3
